Finding the Right Fit
Let's be honest—not every therapist is going to be the right fit for every client. And that's okay! It doesn't mean there's anything wrong with you, and it doesn't mean there's anything wrong with the therapist. Sometimes, the chemistry just isn't quite there.
I like to compare it to ice cream. There are a ridiculous number of flavors out there, and we're not going to like all of them. Maybe you're a chocolate person and I'm handing you butter pecan. Nothing is wrong with either of us—we're just not having the same ice cream experience. 🍦
Finding the right therapist is important, and sometimes that means finding someone whose personality, approach, experience, or style feels like a better match for you. If I'm not that person, I won't take it personally!
I have a pretty extensive list of therapists, prescribers, and other providers, and I often provide referral resources to people looking for services. If I don't feel that I'm the best fit for what you're looking for, I may be able to point you toward someone who could be.
Because sometimes the most helpful thing a therapist can say is, "I know someone who might be exactly what you're looking for."
